Governor's Small Business Forums: Abilene

Abilene Civic Center
1100 N 6th Street
Abilene, TX 79601
United States

Co-hosted with the Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Governor’s Office, this Forum seeks to give entrepreneurs and small businesses the valuable tools, skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s fast-paced economy. Featuring a wide range of instructive seminars and expert speakers offering vital information on both public and private resources, the forums offer a great opportunity to network and connect with industry specialists, government officials, service providers and other regional businesses.  Likewise, Texan businesses are afforded a chance to network and trade with one another, exchange best practices, and discuss challenges and innovative ways of overcoming them.  After a brief welcome by Abilene community leaders and Larry Ruggiano, Office of the Governor, a presentation by Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas on the Skills Development Fund and other Workforce programs will follow. Panel discussions on Becoming a Workforce of Choice and Tips for Winning over Your Lender will proceed the lunch.  Texas Workforce Commissioner Ruth Hughs will deliver the keynote address. Hughs will be speaking about the importance of small businesses in the Texas economy.  Following lunch, a presentation on Marketing to be Different and a panel discussion on Procurement Done Right will follow.  The Forum will culminate by recognition of outstanding regional small businesses by the Governor’s Office.
